Another Session

I took Chauncey to Lee Vista to track today. We met up with a lady who has Golden Retrievers and is getting one of hers ready for a test next weekend. Joyce had already laid Ziggy's track by the time I arrived with Chauncey. We talked for a few minutes and then Joyce laid Chauncey's track. It was about 200yds long, with 4 articles and 3 turns. The first leg was 80 yds long and she nailed the first turn. About 10 yds the grass went from 3" (mowed and kept), to about 2' tall weeds and brush. When Chauncey got to the change in vegetation, she went back and forth trying to find a way around it and tried to avoid going through it. After a few trips back and forth, she went through the weeds to the next turn. The following turns and bruch she went through fine and found the article on the next leg and down on my first command. It took her a moment of circling to locate the glove at the end as it was in deep grass. She received lots of praise and rewards. Pretty good for her not having been on different grounds for a while. We will be going out more often now and getting her ready for spring of next year to do a test.
